Due to open in fall 2023, the project offers 2, 3, and 4-bedroom student apartments, with many units already having been sold out. The firm introduced a unique approach to communal areas, which include a rooftop sky lounge and collaborative study areas, with boutique furniture appointments leading some to compare it to a modern cosmopolitan hotel.

Southcoast Design Group’s involvement in the development was the result of the agency’s award-winning designs in other sectors, such as commercial offices, retail, hospitality, and residential. The firm’s goal is to develop concepts that reflect the unique culture of its clients, and the design team was informed by the needs of modern students.

As a full-service design house, Southcoast Design Group’s efforts ranged from concept discussion, to production of 3D interior renderings, as well as furniture specification and supply. The agency’s end-to-end ethos allows it to retain creative and budgetary control, factors that were central to the successful completion of the StateSide development.

The result is one of the most modern and unique student accommodation facilities in the region. Students’ private spaces are modern and functional, while also allowing significant scope for personalization. Communal areas feature a signature private sky lounge, with flexible study spaces and printing facilities also available.

“StateSide is a brand new student community opening in the fall of 2023. Located near the gateway entrance to SDSU, you’ll be steps from class and all the university has to offer,” a project representative explained. “Our goal was to create a living environment that will help you elevate your lifestyle, foster lifelong connections, and make the most of your college years.”
