Fragasso Financial Advisors Commemorates CEO Robert Fragasso’s 50-Year Investment Career with a Special Magazine Issue
Fragasso Financial Advisors, a primarily fee-based and employee-owned independent investment management and financial planning firm, has announced the commemoration of the golden jubilee anniversary for Bob Fragasso, founder, chairman and CEO of the firm. Fragasso began his career in 1972 at a major brokerage firm and eventually moved to an independent model in the mid-1990s with a vision to build a firm guided by the clients’ best interests. The company is reckoned for its uncompromising commitment to trusted, personalized client relationships and measurable results.
To commemorate Fragasso’s 50th anniversary, Fragasso Financial Advisors has released a commemorative issue of their in-house magazine, The Advisor, a 50th Anniversary Issue. The magazine highlights the company’s journey from 1972–including challenges, industry changes, firm achievements, setbacks, and much more.
In the magazine’s intro letter written by Christine Robinette, the Executive Vice President, Branch Management and Client Experience at Fragasso, she explains how founder, Bob Fragasso’s resilience and determination to set up a firm that would help people make better decisions and handle their financial and investment issues competently.
“Here we are 50 years after that life-altering decision to change career paths,” explained Christine in her intro letter. “I have watched him persevere many times over. Whether it was navigating severe market downturns, building a team of now 44 employees or guiding the firm to the best independent investment platform for our prospects and clients. For example, Bob’s decision to move to financial independence from a major brokerage firm in the mid-1990s was one very few had the vision to see, nor the courage to carry out. That was another life-altering decision for him, but he knew it was the right thing to do for clients and employees. That decision allowed us to better serve our clients and continue to grow. He did what he did best-no excuses, no negative thoughts, just hard work, and perseverance.”
Today, after 50 years, Fragasso Financial Advisors has over $2 billion under management and non-advisory assets combined, offering a comprehensive suite of financial solutions including business succession planning, charitable and family gifting strategies, education funding, employer-sponsored retirement plan management, estate planning, fiduciary partnership, holistic financial planning, income tax reduction strategies, investment management, life insurance, long-term care cost analysis, multigenerational planning, personal retirement planning, and stock option management.
Fragasso Financial Advisors comprises a team of talented members who are equally passionate about delivering results. The financial advisors at Fragasso work on a codified client experience where they take the time to learn about who the client is and what they want to achieve. Once that’s decided, they create an action plan accompanied with continuous, proactive investment management carried out by an in-house portfolio management team.
The company’s excellent approach to serving its clients has earned it many awards over the years, including several Pittsburgh Business Times Best Places to Work awards (1), Barron’s America’s Top 100 Independent Advisors, Top 1200 Independent Advisors, and Hall of Fame awards (2).

(1) More than 250 Pittsburgh-area companies applied to participate in an online survey of employee engagement administered by Omaha, Nebraska-based Quantum Market Research. Online employee satisfaction surveys formed the basis of the final ranking scores used in this program. The number of surveys required from each company was based on a sliding scale applied to the total number of employees the company has in the region — the higher the number of employees, the lower the percentage of employee surveys required to qualify. Category breakdown: Small: 10-24; medium: 25-49; large: 50-149; extra-large: 150 and above.
(2) The rankings are based on data provided by around 4,000 of the nation’s most productive advisors. Factors included in the rankings: assets under management, revenue produced for the firm, regulatory record, quality of practice and philanthropic work. Investment performance isn’t an explicit component because not all advisors have audited results and because performance figures often are influenced more by clients’ risk tolerance than by an advisor’s investment-picking abilities.
