KidGlov, a boutique marketing and advertising agency based out of Lincoln and Omaha, Neb., recently welcomed Shawna Forsberg, president and CEO of United Way of the Midlands, to its podcast, Agency for Change. The episode explored how the organization has been serving the community since 1923.
“The United Way of the Midlands is dedicated to working alongside leaders for positive change,” said Lisa Bowen, vice president, managing director at KidGlov. “It was a natural choice to welcome Shawna Forsberg to the podcast. She’s truly a visionary throughout Omaha and Douglas County.”
For the past 99 years, United Way of the Midlands has used its community-wide perspective to identify local needs that are going unseen or unmet – and how it can partner with corporate, government organizations, nonprofits and donors to tackle them. Today, the organization remains committed to uniting our community’s caring spirit to build a stronger tomorrow. It invests donor dollars in more than 100 local nonprofit programs that, together, form a circle of support around our community. These programs are addressing pressing social and economic disparities and providing the essentials families need to thrive such as food, a safe place to go after school, and job support.
The Agency for Change podcast explored the impact of the organization, the programs it supports and how it uses donations to impact the community.
“What we are really proud of is being as efficient as we possibly can,” said Forsberg. “That takes a lot of volunteers sharing their talents with us. We simply could not do the work if it wasn’t for volunteers and it has allowed us to have 93 cents of every dollar donated going directly into the community.”
